Reading While Knitting

Nothing complicated; nothing too exciting, but yes, I do knit while I read. As well as during many other domestic activities.

From small things come. . .

I promise not to keep posting pictures of ten-row increases of the Pearl Buck sweater: "Look! I'm halfway through the second diamond! Woo hoo!" But I know, like you know, that little by little, stitch by stitch, is how things grow.

I'm having actual doubts about it. I don't know -- I just looked at it this morning and thought, "Eh." Not joy, not yarn-lust, which have been my usual responses to it. I think I'm mentally done. I bet I finish, wear it once and then let that sweater age nicely for a bit, like a cheese. Then I'll love it.

Listen to me! Talking like I'm almost done. Funny girl.

Another sign of spring popped up in our basement:

Not so mad as one might think. Once they're past the cute stage, it's not much more work than the aged hens out there now. And with eggs as expensive as they are -- I'd rather freeze extra for winter than buy them.

You can freeze eggs? I didn't know that.

But those chicks are darn cute. I have a burning desire to keep chickens but they aren't allowed where we live. Plus there are lots of coyotes around here, so it's probably not a good idea anyway.

Oh, those little chicks are so sweet! :0) Hang in there on the sweater, you're probably right. Once it's marinated a little in your closet, you'll love it again.

Yes, Charity's right. Let the sweater marinate and it'll be your favorite.

What cute chickies! I miss raising our ducks. I'll have to email you about our wonderful duck, Dab-Dab. Posting it here would take up too much room.

You have peeps!
I am soooooooo jealous!
I just borrowed a rooster as I have a *very* broody hen and I want to take advantage. Here's hoping.

Today is Dan's bday and carrot cake has to be made here, too. It's in the oven......

Love, Jude

Geez, bees and chicks and've got your hands full! They're cute.

I wouldn't mind progress photos on the sweater. Anything that cranks along slowly eventually gets done, right? I hope you love it. I have sweaters that I've actually never worn except in FO photos (my Hourglass sweater made from too-scratchy Jo Sharp wool leaps to mind), but the Pearl Buck just seems too awesome for that!
